Tennis Tidbits June 2016

*Ian Whitson, a 2011 Greene Central High School graduate and a former member of the men's tennis team, is now the Legislative Correspondent for Congressman David Rouzer at the United States House of Representatives.
 
*Kenneth Stivason completed his 19th season as the men's tennis coach at Clayton High School this spring.  Coach Stivason's overall record in men's tennis is 265-60.
 
*Raleigh Charter School senior Brandon Wacaser will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill next fall.

*Andrew Tuttle of Cardinal Gibbons High School was the 2015 PAC 6 Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. 
 
*Western Alamance senior Sam Lowe has been named a 2016 Presidential Scholar.
 
*Clayton High School senior Katherine Riley will be the Valedictorian for the school's class of 2016.
 
*East Henderson senior Dakota Tittle will be the Valedictorian for the school's Class of 2016.
 
*Thomas Corcoran has resigned as the women's tennis coach at Bandys High School.
 
*Allie Goodman has resigned as the women's tennis coach at Richmond County High School.
 
*Mike Mosley has retired as the athletic director at Nash Central High School and will not be returning to coach the women's tennis team this fall.
 
*Julie Register is returning to her alma mater East Duplin High School to become the women's tennis coach.
 
*Annette Keip has resigned as the men's tennis coach at Northern Guilford High School.
 
*Michael Conine is the new men's tennis coach at Northern Guilford High School.
 
*Roy Hudson, who previously coached at Ardrey Kell High School, is now coaching the men's and women's tennis teams at South Mecklenburg High School.
 
*Clayton High School senior Katherine Riley was a spring recipient of the WRAL Extra Effort Award.

*Lindsay Daniels is the new women's tennis coach at Manteo High School.
 
*Jonathan Waugh, the men's and women's tennis coach at Louisburg High School, has left the school and is now teaching at Green Hope High School.
 
*Bandys High School men's tennis coach Heather Kelly will be taking over the women's program this fall.
 
*Julie van Olden of Marvin Ridge High School was the 2016 Southern Carolina Conference Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.
 
*Thomas McQueen has been the men's and women's tennis coach at Porter Ridge High School for the last six years.
 
*Long-time Hendersonville High School men's tennis coach Jon Sherrill retired before the beginning of the 2016 spring season.
 
*Randy Alexander has retired from teaching and coaching at Northwest Guilford High School.  Alexander coached the men's and women's teams for 11 seasons.
 
*Barry Friedmon is the new women's tennis coach at Northwest Guilford High School.
 
*Diane Phillips will be starting her fifth season as the women's tennis coach at St. Stephens High School this fall.
 
*John Frye will be starting his 36th season as the women's tennis coach at Union Pines High School this fall.  Coach Frye, a member of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame, has a career record of 554-58.
 
* Barbara Fry is beginning her tenth season as the women's tennis coach at Northern Guilford High School this fall.  Coach Fry's overall record is 82-31.
 
*New Patton High School coach Emilie Jacumin-Simmons will hold her first practice on Tuesday, August 9th at 7:00 p.m. on the school courts.
 
*Wake Forest High School has 32 players out for its 2016 women's tennis program.   Fourteen players will be on the varsity, and eighteen players will make the junior varsity squad in Coach Cynthia Keller's no-cut program.
 
*Charlotte Catholic High School women's tennis coach Jo Cabana has an overall record of 458-56 in 25 seasons of coaching in Florida and North Carolina.  She is starting her 14th season at Charlotte Catholic this fall.

*Mike Murphy of Weddington High School will serve as one of our voters for the NCHSTCA 3-A women's tennis poll this fall.

*Lee Matthews of Wilson Fike High School will serve as one of our voters for the NCHSTCA 3-A women's tennis poll this fall.
 
*Kim Young is starting her third season as the women's tennis coach at First Flight High School this fall. 
 
*David Anderson of North Johnston High School will serve as one of our voters for the NCHSTCA 2-A women's tennis poll this fall.

*Julie Van Olden of Marvin Ridge High School will serve as one of our voters for the NCHSTCA 3-A women's tennis poll this fall.
 
*Rebecca Montgomery is the new women's tennis coach at Clinton High School.

*Bo Lansche has returned as the New Bern High School women's tennis coach this fall.
 
*John Delafield has resigned as the men's tennis coach at Northwood High School.

*Bobby Griffin is the new men's tennis coach at West Craven High School.
