John Frye of Union Pines High School will become the first high school tennis coach to be inducted into the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame this October.   Coach Frye is pictured here serving as regional director for the 3-A Mideastern Women's Tennis Regional this past fall.   Frye served as the 2-A state individual championships director for 29 seasons.

Lee Matthews is starting his 13th season as the head women's tennis coach at Wilson Fike High School this fall.

Senior Lauren Carraway was named Greene Central High School's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete at the school's annual Awards Day on Friday, May 27th.

Lizzie Hanes and Courtney Bowers earned valedictorian and salutatorian honors respectively at Ashe County High School.   Bowers was named the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year while Hanes was named the league's Track and Field Player of the Year.   The duo advanced to the state semifinals in doubles and earned All-State honors in tennis.

Northeastern High School received free uniforms for the 2011 tennis season by being named the Team Connection Deserving Team of the Year.
