Riverside-Martin High School Rebuilding in 2016

08/17/2016 16:37

Riverside-Martin High School women's coach Phil Woolard is certainly expecting a rebuilding season in 2016 after losing seven of nine players and all six starters to graduation.

"It's been a hot summer of workouts for the Lady Knights.   The great news is that we have six new players and two returning from last year.   These eight have all been really working hard on tennis fundamentals and conditioning," said Coach Woolard.

Woolard continued, "Our new players have very little tennis experience, so we are learning from the ground up with scoring and tennis play.   The girls are learning quickly, and after a few days of running down balls outside the fence took up some practice time, I am pleased to announce that all balls were accounted for and returned to our basket...that is except for the one that went in the fenced-in yard next door.  The Doberman and English Bulldog have claimed that one, and we thought it better to share.   This year will be a learning and rebuilding year in hopes that in a few years Riverside-Martin will be back as a 1-A playoff contender."
